St. Luke Cell Site Plans Cancelled

The AT&T permit request for a cell tower disguised as a bell tower at St. Luke Church (10 Bayview Drive) had been denied by the County Deputy Zoning Administrator on May 28, 2020. The applicant chose to appeal that denial to the County Board of Supervisors, which was again denied on September 28, 2020.

Subsequent to these actions, AT&T’s agent filed a suit against the County of Marin challenging the denial of the proposed bell tower design. AT&T has now dropped that suit and has stated that they will not pursue this cell tower at St. Luke Church. St. Luke Church has confirmed this action.

ATT dropped their suit challenging the County’s denial of the proposed bell tower design.  On November 30, 2021, ATT attempted to submit a new application with a different design at this site. Reapplication was prohibited at that time because the Court had not yet taken final action on the prior application. We have not received any communication from ATT since then. However, it is possible they may pursue another project at this site with a different design.

AT&T has advised St. Luke that it is not going forward with any plans for a cell tower on St. Luke property.  They indicate they are dropping the lawsuit and will not exercise their option on the lease that is in place. We are moving forward with plans for a preschool that will operate Monday to Friday during daytime hours.  This should be relatively transparent to the neighbors.  We hope that as we proceed with seeking a use permit for the preschool you and other neighbors will be supportive.  We think it is a good use for the facilities and will provide a much needed service for our community. Thanks [to the community] for working with us over the past two years as we unraveled the cell tower issue.
