We’re pleased to announce upcoming CERT training courses for Q1 2026. These sessions will refresh and build upon essential medical response skills that are critical during emergencies and disasters. For more information on CERT visit: San Rafael CERT (also see flyer below)
BASIC CERT CLASS (FOR NEW CERT MEMBERS):
San Rafael Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training
Canal Alliance, 711 Grand Avenue, San Rafael
Course Schedule:
Saturday, March 14 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday, March 21 | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday, March 22 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Final Simulation Exercise)
Location for the final simulation will be Fire Station 52, 52 Union St., San Rafael

Register now! Priority seats will be provided to San Rafael residents. Course opens to non-San Rafael residents starting February 1, 2026.
Current CERT members do not need to retake the full Basic CERT class but should enroll in the monthly refresher courses as they become available.

UPCOMING COUNTY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
The County of Marin Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is seeking volunteers to participate in an upcoming Family Reunification Center (FRC) and Family Assistance Center (FAC) functional exercise.
This exercise is designed to strengthen our community’s preparedness and response capabilities during emergencies, ensuring families can reconnect and receive essential support services during a crisis. Volunteers will have the opportunity to play a vital role in improving local disaster response efforts and gain firsthand insight into emergency management operations.
Additional information on the day, time, location, and volunteer assignments will be provided to interested volunteers.

Earthquakes, Fires and Floods – Oh my!
Help Your Community Prepare for the Next Disaster.
Interested in preparing your community for the next emergency? The City of San Rafael Fire Department offers a free personal preparedness class for residents called “1 Hour 2 Get Ready”.
The class focuses on easy things you can do at home and with your family to be more prepared for an emergency or large-scale disaster. The 1-hour class consists of a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation, 2 activities and a fun game.
Fire Department staff will present at a location in your neighborhood and will bring all the materials needed.
